In 2023, the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation was gifted an island in Kuhmoinen located on the scenic lake Lummenne. Muurahaissaari (Ant Island) has trees of varying ages and structures. The nature varies from boglands smelling of wild rosemary to dryer heath. The island includes a small ridge, and the rock shows traces of the ice age. The area is also interesting in terms of population and cultural history as prehistoric dwellings have been found around lake Lummenne. The conservation area also includes a charming protruding rock next to the island, where birds can nest in peace going forward.

The protected island has sturdy birch, pine and spruce trees, with the tallest reaching up to thirty metres and so thick that you cannot reach your arms around them. The island also has fine examples of bracket fungus, impressive areas of decayed wood, and a suitable number of anthills considering its name. Muurahaissaari is also popular among other species such as the otter and the black woodpecker, and visitors to the island can hear the wistful call of the black-throated diver.
