In October 2022, the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation purchased a particularly spectacular forest area from the City of Vantaa. The purchase of this large area was made possible by the effective fundraising campaign which was launched in collaboration with the band Von Hertzen Brothers in spring 2022. The campaign was inspired by the band’s eighth album Red Alert in the Blue Forest.

The new conservation area, the Blue Forest, is located in Loppi in Kanta-Häme and covers fifty hectares. The area, which is made up of three plots of land, has a remarkably diverse mixed forest with strong aspen and spruce. The forest is home to a flying squirrel and a white-backed woodpecker, among other animals. A stream with an otter habitat flows through the area. Going forward, the forest will be allowed to live and develop in peace, and it will be a sanctuary for many endangered species.
