Pentti Linkola, a nature lover who established the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation and contributed to nature conservation in Finland as a genuine pioneer, passed away on Sunday, 5 April, at his home in the Ritvala region of Sääksmäki. The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation will honour the life’s work of its founder by starting a fund-raising campaign to commemorate Pentti Linkola by using the proceeds for the purchase of a forest that will be named after him.

Late in 2019 the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation received as a donation a beautiful lakeside forest from Pyhäjärvi Northern Ostrobothnia. The heartfelt wish of the donator, Juhani Tolonen, was that the forest would remain intact for future generations too.
